The common perception nowadays is that the Yeezy is the premier high end sportswear collection by Adidas. However that is not true. It still is and always has been Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto. For their Y-3 fall 2016 collection, Y-3 stripped down to an essential aesthetic of rebellious modernism with a tough, industrial edge. Its main inspiration derived from two stylistic markers of the 1990s—rave culture and minimalism—to present a contemporary view on sport-style.
It was an all black movement for most of the collection consisting of a combination of the athletic, the monastic, and the decorative. Made from fabrics that are synthetic, matte, and stiff: which would prepare you for survival in futuristic world whose main consumer would be Neo from the Matrix. When it comes to high end sportswear no one does it better than Yohji Yamamoto and the Y-3 fall 2016 collection is affirmation as to why.
